Wangchuk Bidha is a highly experienced education leader and program coordinator with over two decades of dedicated service in Bhutan’s education sector. She served as the Chief Programme Officer at the Bhutan National Commission for UNESCO under the Ministry of Education, where she played a pivotal role in shaping national policy engagement with UNESCO’s core areas of Education, Science, Culture, and Communication.

Her expertise includes cross-sector coordination, international partnership building, strategic planning, and resource mobilisation for programs aligned with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED). She has successfully led and implemented numerous UNESCO-funded projects, including Bhutan’s iSherig Education ICT Master Plan, GCED training initiatives, and ASPnet school expansion. Under her leadership, Bhutan has strengthened its participation in regional education dialogues and built collaborative networks with UNESCO offices and other National Commissions.

Ms. Bidha holds a Master’s degree in Educational Management from Mahidol University, Thailand, and has further training in educational policy, research methods, and executive leadership from international institutions such as the Maastricht School of Management and the Royal Institute of Governance and Strategic Studies in Bhutan. Her work is distinguished by a deep commitment to inclusive education, gender equity, environmental sustainability, and lifelong learning. She has also contributed to curriculum development, authored educational publications, and served as a national trainer on GNH-based education. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in Social Science at Edith Cowan University.
