About the Journal

Bhutan Insightsan educational journal is a tribute to the visionary leadership of His Majesty, the King. It is a repository of insights to enrich academic discourse, foster innovative problem-solving approaches and connect theory to practice. The Journal is a double-blind peer reviewed print and online Journal, published bi-annually in April and October of each year and serves as a vital platform for scholars, educators, and policymakers to share their academic work in multi-disciplinary fields.

Aims of the Journal

The Journal aims to embody the transformative potentials of academia towards the progressive changes in the country and be an important resource in the development of Bhutan. It also aims to be a catalyst for educational dialogue and build a culture of inquiry and collaboration across disciplines. Thus, the Journal will advance industry practices by facilitating contextualization and integration of global standards through the publication of quality research of national importance.

Scope of the Journal

The Journal will publish research, reviews and perspectives from all disciplines and fields of specialties to improve the education sciences in the fields of education, agriculture, forestry, economics and finance, medical sciences, policy and planning, administration and management, business and commerce, language and literature, digital science and artificial intelligence. It will primarily focus on Bhutan’s unique challenges, providing local solutions towards equity, diversity, inclusiveness and sustainability. The Journal will also foster knowledge creation, co-creation and sharing among the academia and policymakers in Bhutan and globally.

Features of the Journal

Open Access Model:  Ensure that research is freely accessible, promoting wider dissemination and engagement with the findings. This approach aligns with the journal's aim of supporting real-world applications and public interest.

Peer Review Process: Implement a peer review process that values interdisciplinary perspectives, ensuring that submissions are evaluated not only for their academic rigor but also for their ability to contribute to the cross-disciplinary discourse. 

Special Issues and Themes: Feature special issues focused on current interdisciplinary themes, inviting contributions from research students, professionals, academia, scholars and experts working in related areas to stimulate discourse on specific challenges and trends. The theme of every issue will be anchored on need-based and evolving topics of interest as reviewed by the Journal Board.

The logo of Bhutan Insights features a sacred flame rising from a silver butter lamp, accompanied by an interwoven Dhar-Na-Nga (five-colored silk).

  • The Silver Butter Lamp represents the journal itself, serving as a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment. Its silver/white color signifies fairness, objectivity, and evidence-based discourse, which are the core principles of the journal.
  • The Flame symbolizes the wisdom of Jampelyang (Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom). It embodies the illumination of knowledge that dispels ignorance, reflecting the Bhutanese saying, རིག་པ་མེ་བཟུམ་འབར།—wisdom burns like a flame.
  • The Blue Space within the Lamp represents the vastness of the sky, signifying the journal’s mission to spread knowledge universally, benefiting all beings under the blue sky.
  • The Interwoven Dhar-Na-Nga reflects Bhutanese culture and tradition while symbolizing interdependence, inclusivity, and wisdom. It conveys the interconnected nature of knowledge, fostering spiritual and intellectual growth.
