Dr. Tara Devi Laabar is a dedicated nurse educator and researcher with over 20 years of experience in clinical nursing, public health, and palliative care. She began her nursing career in Bhutan in 1999 and progressively advanced her qualifications with a Bachelor of Nursing from La Trobe University in Australia, a Master of Public Health from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, and a PhD in Palliative Care from the University of Western Australia.

Her doctoral research focused on developing a culturally, socially, and spiritually appropriate palliative care model tailored specifically for Bhutan’s unique healthcare needs. Dr. Laabar has served as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing and Public Health, Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB), where she combined teaching with clinical practice in various hospital wards.

Dr. Laabar is also an accomplished researcher and author, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations on palliative care, healthcare education, and public health. She has been recognised internationally for her contributions to developing palliative care services in Bhutan and is actively involved in professional development programs to further enhance pediatric and adult palliative care. Currently, she works in aged care settings in Perth, Australia, applying her expertise to support patients and families with compassionate, culturally sensitive care.
