Kinley Wangmo

Kinley Wangmo is currently pursuing her PhD in the School of Education at Murdoch University, Australia. She earned her Master of Educational Studies from the University of Newcastle, NSW, in 2010 on the Royal Government of Bhutan scholarship and holds a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) from Paro College of Education, Royal University of Bhutan.

She started her career as a mathematics teacher in various schools under the Ministry of Education, where she played a crucial role in fostering student achievement and growth. She later joined the analysis and drafting team for the Bhutan Education Blueprint, which was a ten-year strategic roadmap for the Ministry of Education. As a researcher with the Royal Education Council under the School Division, Kinley was instrumental in organising and training teachers and principals through the Seed School Projects, focusing on 21st-century transformative pedagogy and leadership strategies. Additionally, she collaborated with experts from Denmark to address autism in schools, organising and conducting training sessions to equip educators with the skills to identify and support children with autism. She also has experience in volunteerism and philanthropic ventures, having worked as the Managing Director of Tshokey Dorji Foundation. 

Kinley’s research interests are examining the gaps between the intended and enacted mathematics curriculum in secondary schools in Bhutan, students’ emotional wellbeing, educating for gross national happiness and mathematics education.
