Dr. Deki Choden (PhD)

Dr. Deki Choden is a passionate educator and researcher whose work explores the intersection of leadership, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility. Currently a lecturer in Management at the School of Business and Law, Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Western Australia, she brings to the academic space more than 15 years of professional experience in banking, finance, and leadership development across Bhutan and Australia.

Her academic journey reflects a deep commitment to positive social impact. Dr. Choden holds a PhD in Business Management from ECU, a Master of Business Administration from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from Sherubtse College, affiliated with the University of Delhi. Her research focuses on corporate social responsibility (CSR), ethical leadership, and sustainable development.

Before her academic career in Australia, she played a key role in Bhutan’s financial sector. Dr. Choden served in leadership roles at Bhutan National Bank and the Financial Institutions Training Institute (FITI) in Bhutan, where she headed training, curriculum design, and marketing, and led major institutional projects, including the development of the flagship programs. Her ability to lead diverse teams, design strategic programs, and drive innovation across sectors continues to inform her approach to teaching and mentoring.

Dr. Choden is a member of ECU’s Centre for Sustainability and Governance Research and contributes actively to academic and community initiatives. She is a reviewer for leading journals and conferences, a board member of SABAH Bhutan (a non-profit supporting women’s entrepreneurship), and a former Director for Industry Relations at ECU Women in Business. She is known for her ability to bridge theory and practice and for her efforts to equip the next generation of leaders with the tools to think critically, act ethically, and lead sustainably.
